The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Professor Eng. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, held an extensive meeting with several aluminum factory owners in Iraq to discuss the current state of the aluminum industry and the challenges facing production lines and local market requirements. The meeting included the participation of Mr. Sabah Arzi, Director of ALKO Aluminum Factory, who presented key obstacles affecting aluminum production and proposed practical solutions to support the development of this vital sector.
The discussions covered the actual needs of the local market and the procedures for applying under the Iraqi Product Protection Law, which aims to strengthen the competitiveness of local products against imported goods. The Minister emphasized that the Ministry remains open to all industrialists seeking to protect their products in accordance with legal regulations, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the private sector and creating an enabling environment for the growth of national industries.
Minister Al-Najm praised the significant role played by aluminum plant owners in supplying the market with high‑quality national products, calling for enhanced cooperation between the Ministry and the private sector to improve production efficiency and advance the aluminum industry in Iraq.
